It Sure Isn’t A Perfect World, but . . .

. . . it just might get there, because there are hopeful signs everywhere you look. You just have to look in all the right places and overlook the dangerous hysteria gripping the extremists and media of this nation! As a start, the Corrupt Dinosaurs in the Political Realms All Over The Planet are dying out, despite being entrenched at the moment. Meanwhile, on July 6th. the terrific Juan Cole – in an unrelated article to what I am mentioning herewith – wrote: “Colonial Control Agents.” In other words, those in Power who will go to any lengths in order to maintain their authoritarian grip on us, and who will, almost definitely, make our lives harder as they have been doing since the beginning of time. It is probably their last shameful hurrah! I certainly won’t be around to see their total demise, but I am certain that a demise it will be, and in this there is hope!

I spent two delightful hours one afternoon watching and listening to Francis Fukuyama in a discussion with Peter Slen on C-Span2, Book TV. It was so uplifting to hear Fukuyama who was a conservative and who evolved with time so as to become a democratic leaning liberal with a world view that is uplifting and full of optimism. It made me wonder if his evolution should prompt us all to ask ourselves whether we, too, are Evolving, or, remaining Stagnant in our views and approaches vis-a-vis ourselves, as well as the world?

Also, in these past two weeks, and since my last post, my grandson, upon hearing his mother mention that I loved Jon Stewart and missed listening to him solved the problem. You see, I love Everything Apple (except Apple News): my phone, my computer and my iPod, but I did not have Apple TV, which airs: What’s Wrong With Jon Stewart. Ergo, my grandson click, click, clicked within seconds and installed Apple TV for me! And so I have been binging on Jon’s shows since their inception in 1921! No one, not a one, can ever, ever compete with Jon Stewart. He is a national treasure, a Progressive, Enlightened, Compassionate, Brilliant Human Being who calls all the political mendacity out loud! No, it isn’t a Perfect World, but with such Humans as Jon around, it has a huge possibility of evolving into one!

There are many black clouds in the skies above us, a malaise, or, should I say miasma? spreading around us worse than any contagion and enveloping the globe. It seems that so many countries are undergoing such terrible occurrences in which only the innocent, miserable civilians are paying the price for the unimaginably corrupt and inept leaderships lording over them. It is very unfair, unjust and inhumane. One such example disturbing my entire being was Jenin and the Palestinian people. How and Why should Any Human Being have to endure such an atrocious, inhumane, cruel colonization? Where is the justification for this? For how long do we need to continue repeating the saga that we have been undergoing Through No Fault Of Our Own Making, but only to satisfy a Colonial Dogma in which the US and the UK, as much as Israel, are complicit? But, again, when there are people such as Peter Beinart – and so many other writers, organizations and activists all over the world – who was at one time an ardent supporter of everything Israel, but who has evolved and can relate the Unvarnished Truth thus reaching thousands upon thousands of people, there is hope that this criminal enterprise will one day expire and be replaced by Justice, Equality and Legality. Not today, not tomorrow, but the day will come as it did for so many despotic regimes throughout time. Along that line, Ali Valshi on his July 8 program interviewed Avner Gvaryahu –  who was once an IDF soldier and who now affiliates with an Israeli organization called Breaking The Silence – who spoke out so convincingly against Israeli Government policies regarding the Palestinian people. In this, too, there is hope.

All of the above mentioned decent (does anyone in power even know the meaning of this word anymore?) individuals have made me cede my usual ranting and raving to those who reach a far wider audience and who are far more persuasive than the two and a half people (LOL!) who read my posts, I respect and admire them all, as well as Amy Goodman of Democracy Now, amongst other real news sites and writers who are always on top of the important issues that others are too much cowardly to broach.

I was also binging on The Diplomat, a Netflix series that I had missed when it first ran. Throughout my watching these episodes I was thinking to myself: is this a true depiction of how we conduct our foreign policy? And, is this why our foreign policy is so chaotic, hypocritical and unjust? And, does it make any sense at all that we are shipping Cluster Bombs to Ukraine? And the corrupt bought and paid for corporate media is cheering Biden on? Seriously? Between that decision and Biden’s continuing to support the crimes being committed by the Israeli Government against the Palestinian people, as well as other dismal foreign policy behaviors I am asking myself how the hell am I going to vote for this guy again? I am going to be in an unbelievably tormented conundrum!

Last, but not least, this having been the warmest June on record, Experts and Climatologists are saying, as they have been for over two decades, that the situation is of utmost urgency causing politicians and world leaders to be scrambling for solutions. They are Soooo behind the curve, as they were on Covid, on Social Media, on ChatGBT and AI etc. etc. They are an inept, corrupt lot who need to GO! Just GO!
