Tune On, Or Tune Off?

What can we individually do when we find ourselves so overwhelmed with a daily bombardment of events that are so serious, so terrible, so anguishing, so mind boggling and so scary? Do we Tune In, Or Tune Off? Personally, I Tune In at times, and Tune Off at others. It’s difficult either way!

I will not speak about the Politics of our Planet today, because I am sure that all of you reading this post are very well aware of everything that’s going on. I don’t even have an Opinion to share, because nothing seems to be making any sense these days. I only know that the World is getting Messier and Messier, Heart-wrenching and Much, Much More Dangerous! How the hell can this even be were it not either Deliberate, or Abject Incompetence? Nevertheless, we need to be expressing our discontent and doing something about that and there are multiple avenues to do so: make a phone call to your Elected Officials, write a letter, send a postcard, find a protest happening in your area and participate in that, send a donation to those who reflect your beliefs and who are doing something about them, talk to other people and try to raise their awareness. Just Do Something! Anything! Whatever we do has a multiplier effect in the long run and it might really be a Loooong Run this time around! However, we must persist!

Some things I will talk about today: the first being America’s Veterans, because this is a very sore point with me. I am a Pacifist. I abhor War and Violence and all those who advocate for it no matter who they are, because there is Almost Always an avenue of Negotiations that should be accessed to solve small, or big conflicts. However, Warmongers, the Arrogant and the Profiteers seem to resort to Violence and War rather than the very difficult option of Diplomacy. Here, in the US, and after sending many generations of young humans to our many wars with thousands of them suffering in so many ways – some committing Suicide, some Homeless, have PTSD, are Addicts, many Traumatized – I have for years been listening to one President, Governor, or Political Leader talking about how they are going to “make this right,” but None of them has fixed it yet so as to give these Veterans the Dignity, Respect, and our Gratitude for their Selfless Service, especially that our wars since Vietnam have been based on Pure Lies. What will it take to tackle this important issue? Shameful and Inhumane! And, at this point in time, it seems that there are other Nations who, being Militarily Powerful, are convinced that they can change the World and Mold it to their liking by Whatever Means Necessary. Their desire is for their Wicked Sordid Plans to be Gratified and Realized no matter how many Humans Suffer, and/or Die. Don’t they know that these terribly misguided notions are short-lived and never successful, and they won’t be this time around either?

The second item I want to talk about is Greed and the Consumerism that the Corrupt Billionaires tempt us to indulge in and without which they wouldn’t be so filthy rich. Yes, the Greed of all the Billionaire Class, Corporations, Social Media Platforms, Politicians and, yes!, the Greed of all of Us, the Hoi Polloi! Our Avariciousness as Humans has been going on since Moses went up to the mountain and came down with the Tablets that said: Do Not! Not since then have Many Humans changed their Many Proclivities! Some days and in order to Escape from the Depressing News I watch Dateline where what always strikes me is that most of the homes where the crime episodes take place are Bulging With Stuff, and Stuff and More Stuff! In the garages, in the basements, in bedrooms, in pantries, bathrooms, closets and on counters. Our Extreme Consumerism and Greed have caused so many of us to require more space than in our own homes to hoard our Stuff so we need to rent one of those thousands of Storage Facilities! Unbelievable! Stuff is Everywhere! This is simply Indicative of our Human Avariciousness of Wanting to Consume More of Everything even though we might not use it, or use it very rarely! Moreover, the Dateline Crimes are Not Fiction and are Always due to Avaricious Behavior: I Want this Woman/Man and I will Kill to have him/her! I need her/his Life Insurance Benefits and I will Kill to get them! I will not have any other Man/Woman have her/him so I will Kill to prevent this! I want to become Rich so I will deal drugs, lie, steal, traffic women, men and children in order to achieve this, and on and on and on with all the different malicious scenarios. So many humans seem to want their every desire met, their instant gratification satisfied! So, yes, many of us ordinary humans are Greedy and urged to do so by Corrupt and Greedy Media Conglomerates that push Gullible Us to Buy, Buy, Buy! What to do about this wickedness and evil, because, after all, we are the Purchasers of the Products that the Billionaires need to continue enriching themselves. What if we were to buy/use Only what is Absolutely Necessary? Or, is there a fuse in each and every one of us that causes us to become as wicked as they are? Are we all culprits and therefore is humanity doomed? Is this what the Billionaires are banking on? We seem to have gone wrong somewhere, sometime that Greed has overtaken us to this extent! How can it be Fixed? And Could it do so? I don’t have an answer! I can only do the Right Thing Myself and hope that Most of Us Humans who are doing so might change this dismal trajectory? Perhaps? And, perhaps Karma is watching and giving the Greedy all the rope that they need to hang themselves, or to mend their ways. Karma is patient, but she is also very perceptive, relentless, unforgiving and she has the Corrupt and Evil Humans in her crosshairs!
